This gathering is a bi-annual event at St Thomas to encourage connecting & conversation. Coffe and Conversation is typically a panel style discussion with people of faith in the LGBTQ+ community.

For our first talk of the year of 2026 we welcome Lauren Kirkey:

Rev. Lauren Kirkey (she/her) is an Ordained Minister in The United Church of Canada currently serving at South Arm United Church in Richmond, BC. Fun fact: While studying at VST during COVID, Lauren completed a practicum with The Centre for Spiritual Renewal under the leadership of Rev. David Taylor and had the honour of starting The Centre for Spiritual Renewal Podcast (Season 1).She credits her time with The Centre for the spiritual practices that continue to ground her ministry and life to this day. So the people, ever expanding work and impact of The Centre for Spiritual Renewal hold a special place in her heart. Lauren identifies as a woman of trans experience and was recently ordained as the first openly-trans clergy in The United Church of BC/Yukon. In her time with us she will share a bit about her trans journey, being trans and Christian and will open up a few scriptures which are gender-inclusive beyond the binary. And of course, there will be opportunity for questions and fellowship.

This is a free event.

Donations are welcome.

A relaxed time of sharing stories and hearts to be encouraged. Coffee/tea/snacks are provided
