Dear friends of the Parish,

The Psalm appointed for today is Psalm 27:1-6, 17-18

I wonder what word, phrase or image is highlighted as you read it.

I wonder why you may have needed to hear this at this time?

What might be an invitation to you in this text today?

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

When evildoers assail me to devour my flesh— my adversaries and foes— they shall stumble and fall.

Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident.

One thing I asked of the Lord; this I seek: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock.

Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

Notes:

  • Enormous Thanks to Irene, Kay, and team for a very wonderful HARVEST DINNER 2025! Thanks also to the many who contributed for complimentary tickets so many could attend. It was so delightful to feast on the delicious home-cooked dinner and on a wonderful visit with friends and family!

  • Please pray for Rowland who is in hospital having had open heart surgery today, Sally (Christ Lutheran Church) now at home awaiting for Hospice, and Doug who is in hospital with serious Pneumonia/lung/breathing complications AND all their families.

-          May we remember those who grieve the loss of loved ones at this time: Bruce Friesen (Leslie Roach) and family, Jim Stevenson’s family, Nancy’s family, Wayne and Dennis and families, and Maaike (death of grandmother).

-          Beautiful God, have mercy on those who are broken in body, mind or spirit as we remember those who have asked us, unworthy as we are, to pray for them. Come to those who are torn apart by anxiety and give them the confidence of knowing your loving purpose. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
